Artist Statement:
This concept focuses on the natural curves of layered earth. The work uses handcrafted textiles and fiber arts to mimic the geological process of formation. Repeating lines of different colors build upon each other, creating movement and a sense of depth. The texture and color of the textiles vary to represent different layers of earth—from smooth, polished rock to rough, porous soil. Each piece requires 10–15 hours of meticulous handwork, underscoring the value of the process and the depth of craft involved. This piece is an exploration of how organic forms can be translated into a fibrous medium. The grid of 4 shows how small pieces come together to create a joyful interpretation of our earth.
