Artist Statement:

As an artist, my work on wood and modern wall sculptures reflects the boldness I bring to both my craft and my story. “Rooted in Love” embodies this journey, a piece that fuses traditional and unconventional materials, marrying my love of modern art and urban landscapes with treasures from nature. By transforming wood into contemporary forms, I honor the natural world while pushing the boundaries of what sculpture can be.

Working with wood grounds me—a reminder of nature’s raw, resilient beauty—while my modern designs are inspired by the strength and order of urban landscapes. Nature and city life are intertwined, fueling my creativity. When I immerse myself in nature, I feel alive and connected to its energy. It is in these moments that I find clarity, strength, and the confidence to own my story as an artist. Through “Rooted in Love,” I share this union of the natural and the urban, inviting viewers to see the extraordinary within the ordinary.

Artist Bio:

Christi Meril is a multidimensional artist based in Dallas, Texas, whose work integrates diverse landscapes and urban environments. Working on both canvas and natural wood, she employs a wide range of mediums, including acrylics, watercolors, oil paints, paper, nails, charcoal, clay, ink, and neon light. Inspired by the Rocky Mountains, high deserts, Northern California's coastlines, and ancient redwood forests, Christi captures the textures of nature—snow, ice, campfire charcoal, rocks, jagged peaks, sand, foliage, mushrooms, and forest floors. Urban influences also play a significant role in her work, drawing from skyscrapers, asphalt, concrete, and the dynamic energy of city life. By merging these natural and urban elements, Christi creates pieces that bring the outdoors in, transforming nature into modern art. Her work explores multidimensionality, incorporating shadow play and vibrant or monochromatic colors. Each piece forms a dialogue between the natural and modern worlds, inviting viewers to engage with these contrasting elements. Christi's art evokes connection, peace, energy, and beauty, reflecting the extraordinary strength she finds in both nature and urban landscapes.

Christi Meril is represented by ALG Fine Art in Dallas, Texas, Washington Gallery in Waco, Texas, and Gary Riggs in Breckenridge, Colorado.
