"Cliffs of Mendocino" is inspired by the dramatic coastline of Mendocino, California, a place where I return often and feel deeply connected to the landscape. Two pieces of burl wood are fused together and layered with pyrite, amethyst, lapis, ink, acrylic, and resin.

The natural grain of the wood suggests the movement of the cliffs themselves while flowing pigments and embedded minerals echo the meeting of land and ocean. The work reflects the raw beauty and mineral richness of that coastline and the experience of standing along those cliffs where rock, water, and time shape the landscape.
