Artist Statement:
Small has long been the unexpected champion. In stories, a tiny mouse rescues a princess, a small robot saves the earth, and a passionate rat becomes a chef. Love, too, often lives in the smallest gestures—a glance that makes the heart skip, a touch that eases worry. A mystery unravels with one overlooked clue; an appetite is stirred by a single bite of chocolate. Even on stage, happiness is captured in a dancer’s small bow to the many, met with one word—“Bravo!”—a small sound, yet immense in meaning. My figurative sculpture carries this truth: joy often reveals itself in what is small.
Kris O’Keefe holds a BA in Art with an emphasis in photography from Hastings College. A multidisciplinary artist trained through formal studies and workshops across the country in both visual art and professional dance, O’Keefe's recent work in painting and sculpture is a deeply persona combination of the two, reflecting themes of loss, resilience, and transformation.
